The 60 Series return; Chris Kaloustian, and his third 60....

They say the best things in life often find you—you don’t find them.

— Written by Leisa N.

60 Series Landcruisers seem to work that way. The bond isn’t just about a driving a Landcruiser—it’s about connection, this becomes more concrete with every story we receive.. These cars aren’t simply about adventure touring, the journey in the 60 is the actual adventure.

Let’s talk about Chris Kaloustian.

Chris Kaloustian is Tamworth born and bred, he is a multi-talented guy: a Communications degree major, photographer, but also a 4x4 fitter by trade. Cool combo, right?

We met Chris back in 2023 when he became a customer. Like many in this community, he quickly became a mate. He had warmth, humour, and banter. We’d often be DM’ing between posts and tags—always a good vibe.

We bumped into him when we were visiting Tamworth, working with our manufacturing partner, Norsk.Co—a fabrication outfit based in Tamworth, run by a dynamic and knowledgeable team; also a valued partner of our brand. Small world.

Chris told us he’d owned two LandCruisers before—both sold, both missed.

Then came New Year’s Day 2025.
Scrolling through Facebook Marketplace (as you do), Chris spotted a gorgeous white 1989 FJ62 GXL, listed as “High Country.” It stopped him in his tracks.

“Six cylinder, full power options, that classic '80s box silhouette,” .... Chris recalled.... "Bookmark".

He showed his partner, Jynaya—and kept scrolling.

But Jynaya? She knew.
Chris says: “She saw the look on my face and knew it was ‘the one’.”

(Side note: Chris lights up even more talking about Jynaya than 60s—which says a lot. She’s clearly a supportive partner… a necessary trait when you live the 60 life.)

A few days passed. Chris, stuck in internal torment.
And like all the best co-pilots, Jynaya gave him the nudge: “Go get your dream car.”
—So he did.

Their recent trip to Stockton Beach has been a highlight—and we were lucky enough to catch up with Chris for a shoot while they were there. He was loving every minute.

When asked about his favourite memory since getting the 60:

“Definitely camping with Jynaya and our friends at Stockton. Just an amazing experience—and always beautiful seeing a 62 on the beach at sunrise.”

If you know Chris, you know his vibe—kind, warm, and infectiously optimistic. For Chris it’s that outlook that makes his 62 more than just a rig.. more like a source of joy.

“My 62 is my daily driver—it mostly just sits out front of work all day, haha! But she starts first go every time. After work, Jynaya and I often just go for a cruise around town. It’s just so much fun in that machine.”

—Is this 60 loved, or what?

The only quality-of-life upgrade needed so far has been the seats—Chris swapped in Ford Falcon buckets after our shoot, and says the difference is night and day.

Next on the list? A 304 fuel-injected V8. That’s his holy grail setup.

“I love how practical they are. They’re the ideal classic—always turning heads. Unlike newer cars, these were built for the joy of driving.”
