For years we searched for an intercooler that worked with our HJ61 / 12HT; we wanted something that fit, something of high quality and finally something that was large enough to make a difference on EGT's and IAT's.

Then, we came across the PDI intercooler from Brian at Performance Diesel Intercoolers in W.A, Australia 🇦🇺

After speaking with Brian, understanding the size of this intercooler, and its design to enable fitment into the HJ61 Landcruiser, as well as it's specs and quality we knew we had to have it 🎁

Not only that, it looked bass ass 😎

If you've got a 12HT or a 2HT, usually you're keen for a little more power, more torque and better performance. 💪🏽

How do we achieve that with these old but brilliant motors? Simple; boost and fuel, > BUT this means higher EGT's and thus higher IAT's; which means hotter engine, rings going bad, overheating, head warping etc etc. 🔥😢

If you have gone through the trauma of any of the above on your beloved 12HT/2H motor then you're understanding how important it is to AVOID this at all costs 👎🏽

Because this means: 

• Getting the engine built; but then there's the cost, what if the builder isn't good and/or make an error, what about their warranty, what if the build cost blows out 💸
• Building the engine yourself; means needing to find space (mum's garage may not fit a small truck engine), finding the time; will it be one of the 50% complete projects for 3 years? you're thinking : "I hate those, my 60 is already one of those!" ⏳

If you're wanting more power, then this is for you; it means boost, cooler EGT's and lower IAT's, it means peace of mind 😌 and motivates you to get your diesel tuned (properly on a dyno 🙄), it means better trips and it looks mean 😈

* Please note, if utilising a custom set-up piping may not fit your set-up. Please let us know your requirements the closest possible will be supplied. This kit is for a 12HT set-up only, whilst we do our best to accomodate a 2H custom set-up, the responsibility of fitment it up to the customer.

From PDI:

The PDI Landcruiser 60 series HJ61 HJ60 Front mount intercooler is designed to fit on both the round headlight and the twin square light model. It sits further back than all other designs we have seen as it has recessed areas in the end tanks for the condenser fittings and piping.

The core is 545 x 300 x 65mm.

Pipes are stainless steel and is supplied with a stainless flange onto the intake manifold, which does a 180deg bend under the air supply pipe.

Plus, it looks awesome!

The SS60R Toyota 60, 61 & 62 Series LandCruiser 4x4 Snorkel is designed to deliver a huge volume of the coolest and cleanest air possible into the stock air cleaner assembly of 01/1980 - 12/1989 All Engines.

With the huge air flow demands of each engine in the Toyota 01/1980 - 12/1989 All Engines 60, 61 & 62 Series LandCruiser, Safari took the decision to design a snorkel system that raised the air intake to prevent ingesting harmful elements to the vehicles air cleaner.

Huge air flow is but one aspect of the ultimate in snorkel Toyota 60, 61 & 62 Series LandCruiser design. The Safari snorkel air ram is designed to perform two very important roles. The most obvious is to funnel cool clean air into the snorkel body - but just as importantly, the Safari air ram acts as a highly efficient water separator to remove rain water from the incoming air stream - thus ensuring safe engine operation through even the most torrential tropical storms.

The genuine Safari Toyota 60, 61 & 62 Series LandCruiser 4x4 Snorkel body and air ram is manufactured to the highest standards in durable, UV stable, cross linked polyethylene material. In addition, the substantial material wall thickness delivers huge physical strength to ensure that the Toyota 60, 61 & 62 Series LandCruiser snorkel breezes through the toughest off-road conditions on the planet.
